Alienation

Alienation
By Allie Marie

I become an alien to my own skin
as a needle slowly breaks the surface, cracks in.
The promises I sold myself
start to turn defective.
Maybe everything I told myself
was only just a part of this lie.

You think you know better than me.
I don’t know anymore.
Maybe you can see what I can’t see,
but just don’t know how to say it.
